Begin by making 4 chain stitches. To form a ring, join with slip stitch to first chain.
Round 1. Make 12 single crochets in center of ring.
Round 2. Make a single crochet in first single crochet. Repeat following sequence of stitches 6 times. *Chain 3. Skip next single crochet. Make a single crochet in next single crochet.* Creates 6 spaces, each chain-3.
Round 3. Make a single crochet in chain-3 space. Repeat the following sequence of stitches 5 times.* Chain 3. Single crochet in next single crochet. Follow with a single crochet in Chain-3 space.* Skip next single crochet. Then single crochet in next single crochet.
Round 4. Make 2 single crochets in chain-3 space. Repeat following sequence of stitches 5 times.* Chain 3. Skip next single crochet. Make single crochet in next single crochet and then 2 single crochets in Chain-3 space.* Chain 3. Skip next sc. Then make a sc in each of the next 2 single crochets.
Round 5. Make 2 single crochets in chain-3 space. Repeat the following sequence of stitches 5 times.* Chain 3. Skip next sc. Make sc in each of the next 2 sc and 2 sc in chain-3 space.* Chain 3. Skip next sc. Make sc in each of the next 3 sc.
Round 6. Make 2 sc in chain-3 space. Repeat the following sequence of stitches 5 times. *Chain 3. Skip next sc. Sc in each of next 3 sc. Make 2 sc in chain-3 space.* Chain 3. Skip next sc. Sc in each of the next 4 sc.

Continue in this way until the medallion is the desired size. Weave in ends.
